Rulebook

General Rulebook

Universal rules that apply to every player on Vice City Roleplay regardless of career path. Read and understand all rules before joining. Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse.

§1 — Player Conduct

These rules govern how you interact with other players and the community at all times — in-game, in Discord, and on any VCRP platform.

1
Respect all players and staff. Harassment, hate speech, slurs, or targeted toxicity toward any player will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
2
No discrimination. Racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise discriminatory language or behavior is an immediate and permanent ban.
3
No trolling or griefing. Deliberately ruining others' roleplay experience with no IC justification is a bannable offense.
4
No cheating or exploiting. The use of mods, cheats, exploits, or unauthorized scripts results in a permanent ban with no appeal.
5
English only in all public in-game chats and voice channels.

§2 — Core Roleplay Rules

Vice City Roleplay requires all players to commit to serious, immersive roleplay. These are the foundational expectations.

1
Stay in character (IC) at all times while in-game. Use OOC brackets (( )) only when absolutely necessary.
2
Value your life. Act as a reasonable person would in a real dangerous situation. Running toward someone actively shooting at you or laughing during a robbery violates FearRP.
3
FearRP is mandatory. If you are at a clear disadvantage — outnumbered, at gunpoint, surrounded — you must comply realistically.
4
No powergaming. Do not force actions on other players, use unrealistic abilities, or do things your character physically could not do.
5
No fail RP. Do not act in ways that make no sense for the scenario — jumping off buildings to escape, using bugs as RP mechanics, or ignoring major injuries.
6
Maintain immersion. No references to GTA mechanics, real-world games, or OOC topics during active RP scenes.

§3 — Combat Rules

1
No RDM (Random Deathmatch). Bannable — You may not kill or attack another player without valid, established in-character reason.
2
No VDM (Vehicle Deathmatch). Bannable — You may not use a vehicle as a weapon to intentionally injure or kill players without prior RP initiation.
3
Initiation is required. Before engaging in combat, there must be clear verbal or physical initiation the other player could reasonably understand.
4
Combat logging is prohibited. Bannable — Disconnecting during or immediately after active combat to avoid consequences.
5
No camping respawn points or hospitals. Do not wait at hospitals or spawn locations to continue a conflict after it has ended.

§4 — New Life Rule (NLR)

When your character is downed and respawns without being revived, the New Life Rule applies.

1
You forget the entire scenario that led to your death — who killed you, where it happened, and why.
2
Do not return to the area of your death for at least 15 minutes after respawning.
3
Do not seek revenge on the players involved in your death using knowledge your character no longer has.
4
NLR does not apply if you were revived by EMS or another player without fully respawning — you retain memory in that case.

§5 — Metagaming

Metagaming is using out-of-character (OOC) knowledge to influence in-character (IC) decisions. It is one of the most common rule violations.

1
Do not use Discord or any external platform to communicate tactical or location info during an active RP scenario unless through an IC communication method (phone, radio).
2
Do not use player names above heads to identify characters your character wouldn't realistically know without an IC introduction.
3
Stream sniping is a permanent ban. Watching a streamer's POV to gain location or tactical information and acting on it in-game.
4
Do not transfer OOC information to IC scenarios. If someone told you in Discord that there's a robbery happening, your character has no way of knowing that unless informed IC.

§6 — Staff & Reporting

1
Do not argue with staff in-game. If you disagree with a decision, open a ticket in Discord after the situation resolves. Staff decisions in-game are final until appealed.
2
Use the ticket system. Do not call admin on players mid-scene unless it is a genuine rule violation. Submit a Discord ticket with video evidence.
3
Record your gameplay. We cannot action reports without evidence. Use Medal, OBS, Shadowplay, or any recording software. Reports without clips will be closed.
4
False reports — submitting fake or manipulated evidence — results in punishment against the reporter.

§7 — Punishment Guidelines

Punishments are applied at staff discretion based on severity and history. The general escalation ladder is below.

1
Verbal Warning — First-time minor violations.
2
Formal Warning Warning — Logged infraction for repeat minor or first-time moderate violations.
3
Temporary Ban Temp Ban — 24hr to 30 day bans for serious violations or repeated warnings.
4
Permanent Ban Perm Ban — Reserved for cheating, hate speech, extreme toxicity, or accumulated bans. Appeals reviewed after 30 days.
